HISTORY AND PASSION

Among the carruggi of Genoa

Palazzo Cicala is an accommodation near the Port of Genoa and is a perfect starting point for both those in Genoa for tourism and those in town for business. Those who are looking for accommodation near the Port of Genoa for their stay cannot miss the many attractions of the Porto Antico area, totally redesigned for the Colombiadi in 1992. A paradise for adults and children alike, with interesting ideas for all tastes. The centerpiece is definitely the Aquarium, one of the largest in Europe; just a stone's throw away is the Biosphere, the Bigo (panoramic elevator, from which there is a spectacular view of the city and the port itself), the Children's City, the Palazzo San Giorgio (headquarters of the Genoa Port Authority), the Galata Museo del Mare and the Antarctica Museum, the Galeone, the Luzzati Museum, and the walk to the Lantern, the true symbol of Genoa. Outdoor cafes by the sea in summer and a thousand stores to browse among under the arcades of Sottoripa.

THE SURROUNDINGS

The harbor you don't expect

But Genoa's port is also a commercial and industrial hub, and the boat departing from the Aquarium area will take you in 40 minutes to discover this side of the city. Beginning at the Centro Cotone Congressi, which hosts international conferences and conventions, continue to the ferry terminal, from which one embarks for cruises and to Sardinia and Corsica; this small hotel near the port of Genoa is therefore convenient for those setting sail. The Lantern, in the distance, offers a unique sight, especially at sunset.

GENOESE TRADITION

An ongoing rediscovery

Visiting Genoa always guarantees pleasant surprises for both those who are there for the first time and those who already know it a little. Genoa has a thousand faces, a thousand souls, and although to its historic center seems to be gathered in a thin strip of land between the sea and the heights, at every corner it somehow manages to amaze even the Genoese themselves.

DISCOVERING THE SUPERB

From the harbor to the center

The first impact with Genoa certainly concerns the Porto Antico area (with the Aquarium, Galata Museo del Mare and Bigo panoramic elevator) and Via Garibaldi, also known as Strada Nuova with its imposing Palazzi dei Rolli (many of which house the city's most important museums). The heart of the historic center is definitely Piazza San Lorenzo with its imposing cathedral, which is ideal as a starting point for exploring the city with its Palazzo Ducale, which is always at the forefront with the exhibitions it hosts, and Piazza De Ferrari, which is overlooked by both Palazzo Ducale and the Carlo Felice Theater and from which the main shopping arteries depart.

FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN

Art, flavor and entertainment

The city succeeds in satisfying a wide range of tastes, and those about to visit Genoa can arm themselves with a city map and a big smile and go exploring the Old Port if they are traveling with children or immerse themselves within the walls of the museums in Via Garibaldi if they are art lovers; or simply get lost in the alleys of the historic center in search of a store or the melodies sung by De Andrè or simply to enjoy the flavors of the typical cuisine.

A TIMELESS CITY

The charm of the Superb

In short, visiting Genoa is not simply a day at the Aquarium or the museums of Strada Nuova; La Superba is really much more and anyone who has already visited it at least once can only confirm this thought and keep coming back to discover some fascinating new detail each time...
